Questions

Which AI and tech lawsuits are going on?

The table lists every case on file, the ones with a hearing or ruling coming up first: The New York Times and other publishers against OpenAI and Microsoft, authors against Meta and Anthropic, Getty Images against Stability AI, music publishers against Anthropic; antitrust cases against Google, Apple, Amazon and Meta; privacy fines, breach class actions, securities suits and patent fights. Filter by kind to narrow it.

Where do the dates and filings come from?

Federal court cases come from the public docket (PACER, through CourtListener’s free RECAP archive): each filing, order and hearing is a dated row with a link to the docket entry. Regulator actions come from the regulator’s own press release or decision. Each case links to its source.

How current is it?

New cases are found every day: registry companies are searched on CourtListener in rotation, regulator feeds (FTC, SEC, DOJ, CFPB, European Commission, UK CMA, EU data protection authorities) are read, and companies’ annual reports on SEC EDGAR are matched to their dockets; new finds show as Unverified until they are checked. Every case is re-read once a week, and cases with a hearing or ruling date in the next 14 days are re-read every day. A date shown as upcoming is the one the docket last scheduled; courts move dates, so check the docket before relying on it.

What does "Settled" or "On appeal" mean here?

Settled: the parties agreed to end the case; a class settlement still needs the judge’s approval. On appeal: a court or regulator decided and a party appealed. Every status change is kept in the Changes log with its source.

Is this legal advice?

No. These are short summaries of public records for reference. Read the docket entry or decision linked on each case.

A case is missing or something is wrong. How do I fix it?

Every case has Suggest a correction, and the lists have Suggest a case. Include a link to the docket or decision; each suggestion is checked before anything changes.
